METS, BELTRAN SPEAK SAME LANGUAGE
Club introduces center fielder after dogged pursuit

NEW YORK -- In the middle of a bilingual news conference about a multiskilled player and his multimillions, Carlos Beltran on Tuesday spoke of how comfortable he had become with the personnel who had led the Mets' pursuit of him.

Owner Fred Wilpon, Beltran said, had been instrumental in luring him, surprising him with his caring and candor. And general manager Omar Minaya and new assistant Tony Bernazard had played significant roles in the club's signing of the market's most attractive free agent as well.
