SURVEY ASSESES LATINO ATTITUDES ABOUT POLITICS AND THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Pew Hispanic Center today released
a comprehensive survey of Hispanic attitudes about politics and civic
participation. The survey found Hispanic registered voters this year
are more concerned about issues that affect all Americans -- such as
education, the economy, health care and the war against terrorism -- than about
immigration. A separate survey conducted July 12-20 found that at this
point Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry leads President
Bush among Latino registered voters 62 percent to 32 percent in a two-way
race.
