PLOTTING FREEDOM AT THE NATIONAL HIP HOP POLITICAL CONVENTION

After two years of intense planning and organizing in more than 35 cities around the country, the finishing touches are being put on the National Hip Hop Political Convention, which takes place in Newark, N.J., June 16-19. The day the convention kicks off, June 16, is Tupac's birthday, and it ends on June 19.
The brainchild of activists, organizations, elected officials, political pundits and hip-hop artists from all over the country, a recent press conference included such notables as Wyclef Jean, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Rah Diggah, MC Lyte and Newark Deputy Mayor Ras Baraka.
