DV REPUBLIC SEEKS PARTICIPANTS FOR THEIR SPIKE TV PILOT
DV Republic invites you to participate in the studio audience of the TV pilot for the new TV series Warrington Hudlin is producing for the MTV Network's Spike TV Channel. The pilot, Watchmen : Defenders of Democracy, shoots on Wednesday, June 30th in New York City.
The show is designed as a social issues forum to address the critical issues facing the American democracy. The show is hosted by Professor Michael Eric Dyson, author, educator and one of our nation's premiere public intellectuals.
Professor Dyson will be joined by the Watchmen, a panel of celebrities who are distinguished by their social consciousness. Each show will feature an "advocate" and a "dissenter" who will debate a specific social issue.
The issue to be debated in this pilot episode is "Who should serve in the American military: Volunteers or Draftees?"
The studio audience would be encouraged to be vocal during this debate (much like British Parliament or Amateur Night at the Apollo) and during the segments that follow when the Watchmen question the "advocate" and the "dissenter" and then discuss the issue among themselves. Finally, the audience will be asked to vote on the issue.
The audience will be cast according to age, ethnicity, gender and political bias. Please copy and paste the questionnaire below into an email addressed to
community@d vrepublic.org. If you are selected, we will contact you by June 18, 2004.
